I met Alana through my good friend and client Sonia. We first met at her portrait session a few months ago (after she won an award for her film work!) When Alana reached out again to do a gender reveal session, I was so excited. Color bombs? Yes please! On top of that, I got to meet the rest of her beautiful family.
We met up at Bel Bacio Cafe (big fan of their cookie selection) and walked over to the green space behind Little Italy in San Jose. Alana and Rustin brought 6 color bombs – always a good idea to be prepared! We tested one to see how it fired. Then, they both tried to fire one at the same time. Can confirm – that is a difficult feat. One was a complete dud! 3 color bombs down. We opted out of trying to fire them at the same time and did the rest individually. By then, we were experts! The kiddos sure loved it.
If we had to do it again, I’d love to try out smoke bombs over these powder bombs! Smoke bombs last a bit longer, so you have a little bit more time to be creative.
Afterwards, we got a mix of traditional portraits – maternity, couples, and family. The love this family has for each other is so evident, and I loved the opportunity to capture it. I’m so excited for them and their new addition!
