If you’re a service provider, you likely have hundreds of brand photos to choose from, and also no clue about which should and shouldn’t live on your home page.
Or, maybe you’ve not yet booked your first brand shoot, and you’re wondering what photos to include in your shot list. Either way, I’m here to help!
Your website is arguably the most important thing you’ll ever create for your service business. So it goes without saying that your home page is juuuust as important – if not more so!
Here are 3 website photo ideas for you to include on your home page as a service provider 👇
1. Your hero image
There are two categories of hero images you can pick from, depending on the type of service you offer.
The first option would be to use a photo of you, in action, doing what you do best. If you’re a graphic designer or illustrator, some photos of you focusing on your design work, or showing off your mood boards and portfolio would perform beautifully. If you’re a coach or consultant, try to include a photo of you at your desk, on a call, or meeting with a client. You get the idea!
The second option would be to use a photo of your best portfolio work. So, rather than the focus being on you primarily, the focus would instead shift to your work. The one caveat to this method would be that it lacks the human and personal touch of showing your face on your website, right when a website visitor clicks in. Play around with it, and see if one type of hero image performs better for you than another!
Your hero image is the first image on your website, above the fold. This means that it’s the first photo that people see when they land on your website – so it needs to have the WOW factor!
Bonus tip: Set your hero image as your social share image so that people see it when your website is shared to social media.
2. In-action shots
Think of the images on your home page as an opportunity to give further context about what you do. So, include some in-action shots!
If you’re a chiropractor, you can showcase you making an adjustment. If you’re an interior designer, you can snap some photos of you staging a room. You get the gist!
3. Portfolio shots
Since you’re a service provider, it’s also beneficial to include photos of the work you’ve created! Prospective clients will always feel more at ease when they get the opportunity to actually see what you’ve made and done in the past.
Let’s use the interior designer example again. As an interior designer, you could show a portfolio photo of an interior or space you’ve designed or staged. If you’re a maker or creator, (or maybe even a fellow photographer), this is where you get to show off a photo or two of some of your favorite projects.
