3 Ways to Incorporate Video In Your Marketing Plan

< back to blog home

If you’ve been feeling like your Instagram feed went from still photos to all motion content quicker than you could say, “what’s a Reel?” you’re not alone!

Truthfully, it’s been a bit of a wild ride watching the world switch from being primarily photo-heavy, to motion focused. As a photographer, I watched the evolution with a bit of trepidation – but I later realized just how beneficial motion-based content and video can be in your overall marketing plan!

Now, when you think of video marketing and content ideas, you might automatically think of Reels and TikToks – but truth be told, video can actually be used in a variety of ways to market your business, and sell your products and services.

Video content is engaging, and more eye-catching than a still photo could ever be. By incorporating video content in your marketing strategy, you’re also unlocking the ability to include movement AND sound – a total win-win to the senses.

Okay, if you’re finally convinced to give video a shot, here are 3 ways to incorporate video in your marketing!

3 Video Marketing ideas for your business

1. In social ads and content

How many times have you purchased something because of a short video ad that you were fed on Instagram? 👀 Video content helps to stop your audience’s scroll, which is exactly what you want to happen when it comes to your paid advertisement!

You can use video for social ads and content across:

  1. Pinterest
  2. Instagram Stories
  3. Ads on Pinterest, Instagram or Facebook

Pro tip: use the same video across all three platforms! Just keep specific aspect ratios in mind for each, as they may differ a bit in size and scope.

2. On your website

These days, it’s super important to not only have your ideal client or customer find your website on Google, but you want to keep and hold their attention, too.

By using short videos on your site, you’ll be able to add a bit of personality and visual stimulation, which will help to keep their attention on the things you have to sell and share!

You can use video on your website to:

  1. Introduce yourself via your Home Page or About Page
  2. Create a short b-roll or stop motion video showcasing how to use your product(s)
  3. Serve as a hero video, instead of a hero image on your home page!

*And of course, if you’re wanting to make sure your website is search engine optimized and copy-perfected for when you do add video to your site, click here!*

3. For your email marketing

Email marketing offers a unique opportunity to share a bit more of your personality with your subscribers. If you think about it, your email list is full of people who chose to opt in, because they wanted to learn more about you and your brand!

So, if you have a personal brand, feel free to introduce yourself with a short video! It doesn’t have to be fancy. You could even record yourself saying “hi” on your phone. I promise, people will love it!

And if you have a product brand, you can feature some behind the scenes or b-roll footage of the design and creation process for the products you sell. People love an inside peek at what’s really going on behind the scenes!
