Alicia Van Fleteren is a California jewelry designer who sells limited-edition handmade gemstone jewelry. She’s known for my high-quality stones, craftsmanship, and design, and her work can be found in over 100 boutique, gift, gallery, museum, and lifestyle stores across the United States.

In addition to her wholesale work, she also sells one-of-a-kind / very limited edition pieces through her Etsy shop.

Alicia is a Northern California jewelry designer, and our goal was to represent that in her photos. We worked together to brainstorm different locations that would represent her northern California roots. Our final options were a beach in Half Moon Bay and a local nature preserve.

Now, photoshoots at the beach mean that planning and flexibility are key to a successful day. When we arrived at Half Moon Bay, naturally, the wind was WILD. (You’ll see in the photos below!) Thanks to our planning, backup plans, and our flexibility, we left the beach early to our backup location.

Then, when we got to our backup location, it started raining. 😂 Was any of this in the weather forecast? Of course not! However, despite our weather troubles, we were still able to create the stunning photos that Alicia was looking for.

My word of advice? Take a page out of Alicia’s book for your brand photoshoot! Unpredictable weather can be intimidating, but it shouldn’t ruin your special photoshoot day. Because Alicia trusted the process, we were able to get photos that were perfect for her brand.
