I’ve had the joy of working with Kate from Scented Designs over the last few months. She makes the most AMAZING candles in all shapes and sizes! I actually purchased branded candles with my own logo on them from her recently to give as client gifts!
As you can imagine, the winter and holiday season are a super popular time for her products, so we went allllll out with Christmas photos. Some of my favorite candles of hers are the ones she creates out of vintage mugs and teacups. The whipped ones are just stunning and make for the perfect custom gifts!
For this year’s holiday photoshoot, we staged everything at my studio, The Sunlight Space, which already had a ton of holiday props for the season. Kate also brought a basketful of tabletop props to help us create layers and depth in her photos.
Holiday Photoshoot Tips
If you’re in the middle of planning your own holiday product photoshoot, I have a few tips to get the most out of the season!
1. Showcase gift packaging
If your products come in special holiday packaging for the season, definitely capture photos of what that looks like! Your customers want to see the end product if they are buying gifts for others.
2. Get a model
As a personal branding photographer, I am of course a huge proponent of having YOU model your own products. Since Kate and I have been working together for a while, we have tons of photos of her modeling her own product. If you want to step up your product game, consider inviting a model! You don’t have to go with a pro modeling agency when you are starting out – ask a friend or a local influencer who is always needing new photos. We had my friend and local influencer & business owner Sonia join us for this photoshoot!
3. Show your product in use
While standalone product photos always have a time and place, it’s important to show what your product looks like in use. For candles, showing them in use is pretty self-explanatory: show someone lighting it, smelling it, and opening the lid. These add a human element to your product listings that allow your customers to visualize themselves using your products.
Now without further ado – let’s check out the Scented Designs’ gallery!
